[PCT] Chapter 0 I'm Hiking from Mexico to Canada
Pre Trail and The Flight Out ((Also--What is the PCT?))
Tomorrow morning I will begin the first of a string of many very early mornings, go to the airport, and fly to San Diego. During the 3 hour wait for the shuttle I will explore the waterfront and the old town. The shuttle will take me and some dozen other aspiring thru-hikers by a grocery store and the REI to buy food and then drop us off at a town called Campo (which is really just a restaurant and campsite beside the Mexican border).
The next morning (Wednesday May 20th) will be day one on the trail. I expect to have well over 100 days on the trail as I venture 2650 miles north to the Canadian border. This trail will take me through the mountain range common to the Mojave desert, the high sierra, the volcanoes of Oregon, and finally the cascades of Washington.
As I hike I expect to be thinking and writing a lot so stay tuned for my thoughts, stories, and commentary of this adventure.
Disclosure- If you are here to read about my hike—explore my blog at your own risk. I talk mainly about religion and politics (what else is there besides mountains?) and my views are unusual and may even be different than yours.
Enjoy!!!
